Biography

Tora Hed and Kirsty Arnold are experienced contemporary dance artists who have developed strong artistic voices in connecting dance and movement with well-being. They facilitate sessions that encourage risk-taking and innovation while fostering a deeper understanding of movement. They are committed to finding meaningful moments of connection through dance within the wider community. They are interested in care, dancing the small moments and challenging the idea of what a dance can look like.

Independently Kirsty and Tora have worked as performers and collaborators within the field of dance for over ten years. When working together they are predominantly based in Leeds and have worked with Yorkshire Dance to develop In Mature Company working with older adults, as well as receiving Arts Council funding for their own projects- including a week long residency that involved moving into a care home. They have developed a short animation with YD and Hungry Sandwich based on some of their work with dementia, were commissioned to create an audio work in dialogue with other artists and presented a series of images of their work by Alice Marcelino at Leeds Playhouse.
