Frederick Ingoldby’s residency at St Mary Newington Close
Frederick Ingoldby was the inaugural artist in residence at St Mary Newington Close, spending a month, in 2024, living and working in the almshouse using his flat as a painting studio. Fred integrated himself into the Almshouse community both formally and informally, sharing cups of tea and through workshops and talks and a pagan firework event. At the completion of his residency Frederick donated a painting to the Southwark Charities Art Collection – this now hangs in the residents lounge.

'All in all it was a joy to have such a lovely young man like Fred living among us for a while. We have his lovely painting to remind us of his time here.' - Resident at St. Mary Newington Close.
